Recipe: Preparing A Pot of Delicious Okra Soup

PREPARING A POT OF DELICIOUS OKRO SOUP

When it comes to Okro soup, I can beat my chest to say it is one of my favorite because I can combine it with whichever kind of 'swallow' and it goes perfectly. The only problem is that some people find it really difficult to make a pot of delicious okra soup which is the aim of this article, to reveal to you the step by step process of making it, But first we start with the ingredients needed to make it.

INGREDIENTS

  • Okra: for this article, i will be focusing on the fresh okra rather than the dried grounded one
  • A cup of water 
  • Salt
  • Pepper: it could be fresh or dried
  • Maggi
  • Potash: popularly known in Nigeria as "Akaun"
  • Cray fish or Iru (yoruba) 
  • Meat or Fish (Already Prepared)

RECIPE

  • First and most important of all, cut your Okra using a knife or the grater
  • Then place a pot of water on fire, it is dependent on the quantity of Okra you have, but preferably a little amount of water, if it is not enough, you can increase it with time.
  • Then put your prepared meat or fish in the water, your pepper, and Crayfish or Iru, seal the pot and allow to boil for about five minutes.
  • Open the pot and put your salt and maggi, the amount that is sufficient and not too much, else it would not taste good, allow to boil for another 3 minutes.
  • Pour in your Okra and the Potash at the same time and allow to boil for another 5 minutes.
There you go, your Okra soup is set to be served with any swallow of your choice
