Live: Governor Gavin Newsom Speaks On Numerous Fire In California
California Gov. GavinNewsom said there are 367 known fires in California, 23 of which are considered major fires.
"The prospect of that number going up is very real," he said
California has already experienced more than 2,000 more wildfires than this time last year, Newsom said, to a total 6,754 blazes. The governor said the "heat dome" hanging over the region and the lightning storms have helped cause the surge.
The Governor reports more than 10,400 lightning strikes around California in the last few days, notes the world record 130 degree temp recorded in Death Valley, says CA has already had more than 6700 #wildfires this fire season.
