How To Be A Great Public Speaker (Step-By-Step Guide)

How To Be A Great Public Speaker (Step-By-Step Guide)

Public speaking is something anyone that wants to attain any great height in life must learn to do regardless of how inconvenient or unfit the person may think he or she is.

Let me share a little story of myself before I begin this article properly. When I was still in secondary school, I had this girl that we chat so much on social media. At that point in time, my head kept on playing me that "mehn" I am a super hero, I can talk to this girl anywhere I see her.

Guess what? That was a lie from the deepest pit of hell. Unfortunately for me one Saturday, she was coming with her friends in an opposite direction to where I was coming, so we were literally facing each other for the first time. This is the point where my nerves came in fully.

My heart began to pound like I was been chased by someone, I began to shake, sweat all over my body.

A friend of mine moving with me at that point noticed and asked if I was fine, I noticed then that even my voice became shaky. So I told them we should take another street, longer though, but deep within me, I didn't want to mess up in front of her and her friends.

Unfortunately for me, she sighted me and screamed my name, she said I mustn't move, that she has to see me that day.

My friends on the other hand were hailing me seeing a really beautiful lady coming towards me. I was like a vegetable at this time.

She approached me and gave me a very big hug. I was just static like a potential energy.

In the process of hugging me, she noticed my heart beat and stopped hugging me at that point in time, and used her hand to touch my heart. Note that all our friends were still there and people were still watching us.

I felt like the world should just end that day. She went further to ask me if I was scared. I couldn't even speak out of my mouth.

After that day, I knew within myself that I could not take on any stage whatsoever to try to teach anybody or make any presentation, I realised it fully.

After I didn't see her for quite some time, I forgot completely about my dear of speaking under pressure or speaking in public.

Then one of my teachers came up with an assignment and said then that we all have to present in groups. Unfortunately for me, I was chosen as the group leader, which means I can't escape it.

Believe me when I say that I fell very I'll just from knowing that I will stand in front of a class of 60students or more to speak to them. I thought of the respect I will loose.
